What A Great Weekend!

We really had a great weekend. It was the 4th of July, of course, which I love. I grew up celebrating this holiday with my extended family. In fact, I can't remember a time when I haven't gone to the fireworks in Kaysville and had lunch out there. We went to the parade in Kaysville first. It was really fun. Ethan had a great time, once he was able to kind of get the hang of what was going on. They threw a lot of candy to him. You can even see some in his hand when he fell asleep in the car in one of the pictures. He was so excited about that. He even got wet at the end when they had the fire hoses spraying everyone. He didn't like it while he was being sprayed, but afterward he thought it was great. He kept saying, "Mommy, I get a wet." It was cute.

After the parade, we went over to my Aunt Sharlene's for lunch. We had a barbecue and relaxed for a bit. We really had a great time. The kids played in the water and the adults just hung out. It was nice and relaxing, especially because my aunt has central air now. :)

After lunch, we took a car ride, where Ethan fell asleep. We wanted to go get some chairs and blankets for the fireworks and we went to pick up Nick. We went over to Aunt Lorraine's for homemade ice cream, another family tradition, and hung out there for a bit. The kids had a good time playing. I got some poppers to throw on the ground. Ethan liked them, but only from a distance. He would throw it like it was a grenade and run like crazy. It was really funny. He is so cautious for such a big burly boy. We went and snagged some dinner at Subway and then went up to the DATC where we had blankets set up for the fireworks. We played and visited until the fireworks started. Dan even got his glow sticks like he wanted and played with them with his brother. Ben and Lisa came and sat with us for the fireworks too. It was fun. Ethan didn't like the fireworks this year. He snuggled with me with his eyes covered the whole time. Oh well, maybe next year he'll do better. I think it was the noise of it all.

Saturday and Sunday were just spent recovering and relaxing from the weekend. We did a little bit of shopping and went to dinner on Saturday, but other than that we just relaxed. I took a nap yesterday and that was really nice. Sleep really is a wonderful thing.

Hi Alesha!
Sounds like you had a wonderful 4th of July weekend. Your little boy is too cute. :-)

I noticed your book shelf and looks like we have some of the same reading interests. I just finished Pillars of the Earth and am now reading World Without End. So far, its pretty good. What are the wheel of Time books like? I've never heard of them but they look interesting. I love historical reads. :-)
