Riding The Train

Today we went on a ride on the FrontRunner train. It is free until tomorrow to get people to try it out. Let's just say that a lot of people tried it out. Jenn and I took the kids and we decided to ride it and go to the Gateway for the afternoon. We had a good time, except for the fact that there were no seats on the train. It was hard for Ethan each time we stopped at a stop because he thought it was time to get off. It probably would've been better if we were able to sit with the kids in some seats and get them situated for the ride, but it was too crowded today, probably because it was free. Ethan had a good time looking out the window and riding the train, but by the time we were about halfway home, he and I were both ready to be done. It was hot and we were both tired. He fell asleep on the way home. :) I took a couple of pictures while we were on the train with my phone. I wanted to take my actual camera, but surprise surprise the batteries are dead and the ones I bought have walked away somewhere...oh well. My impression of the FrontRunner...it's a good idea. It's a good train, but wait until the free days are over until you ride. There were way too many people on there today.

the trax station in layton is a nightmare! the past few days there are cars up and down the sides of main street and both lots have been totally full. it's a nightmare to drive through that part of town.
but what is even more of a nightmare is the back up from the train tracks constantly being used people have to stop for a train like every 10 minutes and for the past few weeks EVERY TIME I leave my house I'm stopped at the tracks. It's terrible. It makes me want to back track through Kaysville to go over the overpass ... but then I think of the construction that is going on at 200 north and change my mind because I'd rather wait for the train to pass then to deal with THAT mess.

but ... I'm glad you had fun riding the train :)

The train was okay, but so so crowded. We had to stand like the entire time. Not an easy thing to do when you're trying to deal with a two year old. I probably won't be riding again. Now I've ridden, just to say I did. I'm hoping that after the novelty wears off people will calm down a little...
