Settling In

I'm settling in nicely to my "new" life. What is my "new" life you say? Now that Dan has graduated and has started working as a nurse, his career, we have so much more family time. It's taken a little bit to get used to. At first I didn't know what to do with myself. Dan has been really supportive and we've been able to have family dinners at the kitchen table. It has been really nice. It's also cheaper and more healthy for us to eat in more...that's always a good thing.

In some ways, I've felt like a single parent for the last three years. Whenever we got to do something fun, like go to the circus or the zoo or even just hang out with friends, it was always (for the most part) just Ethan and I. Dan was usually at work, headed to work, at school, or studying for school. Don't get me wrong, I totally understand the importance of all the work he did, but in some ways he really did miss out on Ethan sometimes. My hat goes off to any moms out there who are putting their husbands through school. It's hard sometimes with the kids ALL the time. People don't realize that when the husbands are doing 16 hour days, working full time and going to school, you are too.

So now we're settling in. Ethan loves having his daddy around more. Dan is loving his new job in the cardiac unit. I am just happy to have him home. I'm happy for family time again.
